Right at the edge of Leicester, Fosse Park is a big out-of-town shopping centre. It’s not a particularly attractive one, with most of the stores in the middle to lower end. Still, if you want to do a credit card blitz around the likes of Primark, TK Maxx, River Island and Next, at least they’re all conveniently gathered in one place.

Leicester to Coventry drive: Paradise Found Educational Farm Park

The Paradise Found Educational Farm Park, a short detour off the M69 in Sapcote, is very much aimed at children. It offers a chance to meet farm animals, plus a few oddities including reindeer and a giant tortoise.

There’s also a soft play area inside the barn. Combine the animals and the soft play, and this small attraction will do the job of keeping kids occupied for a couple of hours.

Sometimes called Coombe Country Park, Coombe Abbey Park is based around an old Cistercian abbey. The abbey has now been turned into a hotel. However, the surrounding park is still open to visitors.

The gardens and parkland were landscaped by Capability Brown, and the Discovery Centre will tell you more about the woodlands, grasslands and wetlands.

Most visitors will come to Coombe Abbey Park for a leisurely lakeside stroll, but for something more energetic you can try the ropes course at Go Ape Coventry.
