Old Sturbridge Village is a painstakingly-created open air museum. This ambitious attraction recreates an 1830s New England village, with 40 buildings spread across 200 acres. The 19th century comes back to life with demonstrations from blacksmiths, potters, cabinetmakers and printers, while there are also several storytelling performances.

Best stops between Hartford and Boston: Worcester MA

Worcester is one of the biggest inland cities in Massachusetts.

The Worcester Art Museum isn’t quite what you’re expecting. The art is worth a browse, but the massive medieval arms and armor collection is much more interesting.
